The perfect brews

The state”s current roster of seven craft beer breweries is being highlighted in the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism’s new Louisiana Brewery Trail. The campaign, unveiled in late September, aims to give tourists a new way of experiencing South Louisiana, with the occasional stop for a pint.

“We thought this would lend itself to an interesting program for a growing industry in Louisiana and nationwide,” Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne told 225 Dine at the announcement event at Tin Roof Brewing.

Recently, data from the Brewers Association showed Abita Brewing Company ranking 14th among the 50 largest craft brewers in the country. It produced 151,000 barrels in 2012.

Locally, Tin Roof is expanding its offerings with the Rougarou (pictured), an imperial black ale that just debuted on draft in several local bars as well as the brewery’s first-ever 22-oz. bottles, found at local grocers.
