The Host (in theaters Friday)

Stephanie Meyer’s bestselling book that is not in the Twilight series comes to the silver screen this Friday. The Host stars Saoirse Ronan as Melanie Stryder, a supernatural being who will risk everything to save the ones she loves. The film will no doubt feature Meyer’s trademark teenaged tugging-at-the-heartstrings plot points. However, fans might have reasonably higher expectations for this one, as Andrew Niccol, director of films like Gattaca and Lord of War, as well as the writer behind The Truman Show, is behind the camera here. Much of The Host was also filmed in Baton Rouge. Rated PG-13. Watch the trailer below:
