TEDxLSU: Something magical this way comes
Brian Dixon, one of the presenters at the upcoming TEDxLSU, and founder of Mentorship Academy, tells me he believes something magical will happen on March 9 in the rooms where TEDxLSU will be experienced, either live or live-streamed. All it takes is a willing audience and a speaker willing to take a risk. The people who will attend will be action oriented, and we hope to see some real action come out of the event.
The idea of organizing a TEDx in Baton Rouge has been bubbling around this city for a couple years, and finally has become reality. TEDxLSU, organized by Joey Watson and a large team of volunteers, will feature a mixture of live speeches from a slate of extraordinary local speakers mixed with a carefully selected collection of videos from the annual TED event, along with time for group discussion. The event is scheduled to be held on March 9, 2013, at the Reilly Theater on LSU campus in Baton Rouge.
TED, the global idea powerhouse, holds several annual conferences featuring some of the greatest innovators of our time. TEDx, an independently organized event, is a TED-like event, under license from TED.

Why TEDxLSU? The ideas shared will inspire attendees to dream bigger, reach higher. Some ideas may challenge us and push the boundaries; we’ll discuss and debate the ideas presented. Hopefully, the ideas shared through TEDxLSU will create new directions for our city as they cross-pollinate, germinate and take root.
Tickets to Baton Rouge’s first ever TEDx event just sold out, but free viewing will be available via video streaming to offsite locations. Register for the free viewing here.
