Sushi, steakhouse planned for Bluebonnet

The old Primo’s restaurant building on Bluebonnet Boulevard is set to become home for Kabuki Sushi & Japanese Steak House. Plans are to open the restaurant within the next three months, says owner Tony Lu. Lu owns the Royal Panda, a popular Chinese buffet restaurant in Lafayette. Kabuki will be “a little more upscale,” with a hibachi grill, and it won’t be a buffet, Lu says. Lu says he’s been aiming to go into the Baton Rouge market, since it’s larger than Lafayette. “We’ve got a good location, so we want to give it a try,” he says. —Timothy Boone
