‘Super’ duper

Filmed in Shreveport last year, James Gunn’s violent and absurdist comedy Super picks up where Kick-Ass left off: Average Joes donning super hero costumes with the best intentions but few of the extraordinary skills required for the job. Rainn Wilson—The Office’s resident ubergeek, Dwight—stars as Frank, a miserable man who decides to transform himself into a fearless crime fighter by the name of Crimson Bolt after his wife, played by Liv Tyler, leaves him for her boss. Targeting everyone from drug dealers to line-skippers, Wilson dispenses his own quirky brand of justice and even recruits a comic-loving sidekick in Ellen Page. But can he survive long enough while cleaning up the streets to confront his wife’s gangster boyfriend and win her back? Kevin Bacon and Linda Cardellini co-star. Rated PG-13.
