Sup on soups
Cool weather is back this week, and an excellent way to warm up is with a hot cup—or big bowl—of soup. Below are a few choice selections from around town, but don’t just take our word for it: Let us know what your favorite warm cuppa is on our Facebook page. MJ’s Café: Owner Maureen Joyce serves up a different hot, freshly made soup every day, sourced from local ingredients and farmers’ market finds. Beans, squash and roasted corn currently dominate her seasonal menu, but check her Facebook page to see what she’s serving each day. Cuban Connection: Soup from a truck? That’s the word at the new Cuban Connection food truck, where you can grab a tasty to-go cup of authentic Cuban black bean soup along with your sandwiches and plantains. Made fresh daily, this soup is fully satisfying. Coyote Blues: Tortilla soup is a staple in many Mexican restaurants, but Coyote Blues does a particularly delicious version, complete with chicken, spicy jalapeńo sausage and avocado, finished with a dollop of whipped cream. If tacos seem too summery for you, this is a real warming treat. Thai Kitchen: If you want your soup spicy, exotic and chock full of seafood, then Thai Kitchen has the perfect menu item for you. Their seafood lemongrass soup combines shrimp, green mussels, calamari and catfish filets in a mouthwatering lemongrass broth. Take your friends out and share a pot—it’s guaranteed to be a bonding experience!
