Sunday bicycle tour includes controversial Westdale Middle monument
Baton Rouge Advocates for Safe Streets (BRASS) hosts another bicycle tour Sunday, this time with an art theme. It’s a great way for families and bike enthusiasts to learn about some of the city’s unique art and architecture that dot the landscape. The Velo des Arts tour starts at the State Capitol lawn, regathers at the Civic Center Complex, then heads to Westdale Middle School to see the student-created sculpture that’s been threatened with demolishment. Others stops along the way are B’nai Israel synagogue and Circa 1857. Pre-registration ($15) at brsafestreets.org. Ride is from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
