Summer in the City should occupy your July

If gas prices are keeping you from skipping vacation this July, thank the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge for keeping your social agenda busy. Summer in the City gives you 10 great ways to have fun without leaving town, starting with Baton Rouge Little Theatre’s The Producers through July 27. Other activities include:- The Fourth of July Star-Spangled Celebration downtown- Pro Bass Challenge at the River Center, July 4-6- Baton Rouge Arts Market at Fifth and Main streets, 8 a.m. to noon July 5- Louisiana Saturday Night’s series of downtown concerts- Forum 35’s Art Melt at the Shaw Center, 7 p.m. July 11- Grand opening of the new Baton Rouge Area Convention and Visitors Bureau location on Third Street, noon to 3 p.m. July 17- Mid-summer Night Dance Party featuring After 8 starting at 6 p.m. July 18, followed by a Paramount in the Park film at 9:15 p.m. in front of the Shaw Center- A Southern Night Under the Oaks featuring Sweet Root at 6 p.m. July 25, followed by a Paramount in the Park film at 9:15 p.m. in front of the Shaw Center- Movies & Music on the Lawn at Baton Rouge Gallery, 8 p.m. July 26.Details at artsbr.org or by calling 344-8558.
