Summer camps kicking off
School might be out, but that doesn’t mean Baton Rouge is lacking of choice programs for the kids. Manship Theatre will host the Forward Arts’ WordPlay Teen Writing Project starting next Monday. The workshop is for youth ages 13-19, and participants will learn about writing and performing spoken word poetry as well as the culture of slam poetry. Workshops take place Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 6 p.m.-8 p.m. through June 28. Registration is $100 per student. For more information, visit manshiptheatre.org. The LSU Hilltop Arboretum will host its Summer Sprouts Camp for children ages 4-7. The camp will explore the grounds as campers learn about plants and animal life. Registration is $225 for Hilltop members, $260 for non-members. For more information, click here.
