Stretch it out – New yoga and pilates studios debut in the Capital City
Baton Rouge fitness fanatics now have a few more options.
Kavitha Kakarala (pictured) opened Reflection Yoga and Health Studio on Perkins Road right after Christmas. Kakarala wasn’t expecting a big crowd but had to turn people away from her free class that first day.
Reflection offers everything from restorative to sculpt classes and much more, Monday-Saturday. Kakarala is also a health coach and nutritionist. She believes patience and meditative timeouts are key in being healthy.

“If you want to lose weight in a month, I’ll probably turn you away,” she says. “You will lose weight because you’re practicing a certain way. It takes time. A minimum of six months is required to actually see a change in yourself.”
Just a few miles down from Reflection, Elizabeth Firesheets has opened a Pilates and group equipment class center called Studio7. The new fitness location features classes throughout the day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. as well as a new cardio-fusion techniquepilaxing, a combination of pilates and boxing.
