Stand Up Guys (in theaters Friday)

Character actor Fisher Stevens steps behind the camera for what must be considered his most high-profile directorial outing to date thanks to the all-star cast of veteran actors he has assembled here, including Al Pacino, Alan Arkin and Christopher Walken.

Most retirement-age guys’ nights out include the early bird special, maybe some shuffle board or cards, and it’s all over before Leno. Not for this group of crafty con men who reconvene after years apart for one final score. The problem is Walken has been ordered by his shadowy mob boss to kill Pacino over an old debt that years in the slammer did not erase. It’s going to take a lot of money and a little bit of luck for these geezers to pull another one over on the mafia and the authorities, because while most movie con men are looking to get rich and retire early, this crew really needs it.
