‘Stabbed’ looking for a new home

The monthly Stabbed in the Art event is starting the new year without a January event—which would’ve been tonight—or even a home. As reported in our January issue, the December event of this casual art show at 1284 ArtSpace Perkins in the Garden District was the last as co-founder Jared Loftus and other organizers search for a new venue. An email sent out this week sought help and suggestions in an effort to relocate the popular event.

As for 1284 ArtSpace Perkins, Micah Nickens is transforming it into Gaudet Bros., a salon/art gallery/listening room that seems poised to attract some talented artists on its own. Nickens was profiled in our January People to Watch issue.

Loftus is considering a Kickstarter campaign, and you can keep up with the search or make your own suggestions on Stabbed in the Art’s Facebook page. Personally, I’d love to see it move to Mid City or in one of the warehouses east of downtown, like the Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council’s building on Main Street, which played host to a cool Elevator Projects event last year.
