Spotlight on Irish films – It’s no secret: Ireland produces great films every year.

It’s no secret: Ireland produces great films every year. This weekend, the fifth annual Baton Rouge Irish Film Festival celebrates a variety of the country’s films with screenings and events at the Manship Theatre. The festival has grown each year since its inception, and this year’s lineup boasts some big titles, such as The Secret of the Roan Inish, Earthbound, a documentary on The Kalem Film Company and The Guard, which stars Brendan Gleeson. Also this year, Louisiana filmgoers will be able to vote on their favorite short film Friday night. Saturday’s festivities also include bagpipers, a dance workshop and music. Tickets are $8.50 per film and are available at manshiptheatre.org. For more details, check out an article in this month’s 225 here.
