Soiree of the Surreal

Leading surrealist artists from around the country converge on the Baton Rouge Gallery for the annual Surreal Salon Soiree, a salute to that odd artistic movement that gave us painters like Salvador Dali and Renee Magritte. Original works from California to Carolina have been on display throughout the month, but the big costumed ball that tops off the event is this Saturday, when the works will be judged by internationally-acclaimed pop-surrealist painter Chris Ryniak. Guests are encouraged to dress in their surrealist best as cash prizes are awarded to the winners of the competition. 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are $15.
