So ‘In’ right now
Fans who enjoy a good vampire tale but feel beaten down by the overly saturated attention on the now-everywhere genre rejoiced two years ago with the release of Let the Right One In, Swedish director Tomas Alfredson’s moody and shockingly moving adaptation of John Ajvide Lindqvist’s 1980s-set young vampire tale. Young of course is relative in this case, as the antagonist-turned-heroine appears to be 12-years-old but is more like 200. Cloverfield director Matt Reeves’ American remake Let Me In, is new on DVD this week with a stellar young cast led by the (500) Days of Summer’s preternaturally gifted Chloe Moretz as vampire Abby, and The Road’s Cody Smit-McPhee as her often-bullied human friend Owen. Cara Buono, Richard Jenkins and Elias Koteas co-star. Rated R.
