‘Smurfs’ up

The original blue man group, those lovable forest gnomes The Smurfs return to the big screen this Friday in a brand new 3D adventure. After the evil sorcerer Gargamel chases the Smurfs out of their magical mushroom village they tumble mysteriously into our world—in fact, right smack in the middle of Manhattan. But can Papa, Handy, Smurfett, Grouchy and the rest of the gang survive New York City long enough to escape the clutches of Gargamel and return to their village? Hank Azaria stars as the evil wizard and Neil Patrick Harris is the unwitting guy forced to give the Smurfs refuge. A host of stars lend their voices to the Smurfs, including Fred Armisen, Jeff Foxworthy, George Lopez, B.J. Novak, Katy Perry and more. Tim Gunn, Sofia Vergara and Glee’s Jayma Mays co-star. Rated PG.
