Smithsonian’s aviation poster collection at LASM

Starting Tuesday, Fly Now! Aviation Posters from the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum are on display at the Louisiana Art & Science Museum downtown. With 40 posters from 1860 to the present, this traveling exhibit reveals the history of American advertising, technology, transportation, tourism and culture through the unique lens of aviation art. The exhibit is up through March 8 as part of the Baton Rouge Airport’s 60th anniversary. Also, if you happen to be at LASM Sunday afternoon, duck in to the photographers’ panel discussion at 2:15 p.m. to hear about modern and traditional photo processes. The free talk is in conjunction with A Couple of Ways of Doing Something: Photographs by Chuck Close, Poems by Bob Holman.
