Smart Growth Summit 2012 – Young professionals share their ideas for BR
At the Smart Growth Summit this week, featuring experts in urban planning and development, there were several young professionals with fresh ideas as well. Kevin Morgan-Rothschild, co-founder of Aquaponic Modular Production Systems—and a panelist at the summit—is creating recirculating farms that use less water and energy to create healthy produce, even on the rooftop of a Rouse’s in downtown New Orleans. Leif Remř is a smart growth enthusiast in Baton Rouge currently helping Baton Rouge Advocates for Safe Streets develop an online map tool for safe cycling around the city. And Anna Snyder is helping improve Mid City neighborhoods through AmeriCorps at the Mid City Redevelopment Alliance. We asked them how they’d like to see their communities grow in smarter, more sustainable ways.
