Slow jams
So, this is apparently an annual thing now: R. Kelly returns to Baton Rouge for his second annual Valentine’s Day-themed “Love & Laughter” concert at the Baton Rouge River Center. Kelly’s show is set for Feb. 13, and it’s sure to be amazing. The infamous R&B singer came out of relative hiding for his December release, Black Panties, which is as sex-crazed and innuendo-heavy as you’d imagine. That sounds pretty much perfect for a Valentine’s date, right? Go to brrivercenter.com for more information.
If that doesn’t quite set the mood for you, Boyz II Men is bringing its recognizableand less X-ratedR&B flavor to L’Auberge Casino & Hotel this month. The trio (yes, it’s a trio now) is best known for some of the defining ballads of the ’90s, which have now become karaoke staples. The group went on tour with New Kids on the Block and 98 Degrees last summer and are now touring on their own in support of Twenty, a double album of new songs and rerecorded hits. The show is set for Feb. 15. Go to lbatonrouge.com for more information.
