Slammin’ poetry

Monday at The M Bar, local comedian Howard Hall will host the Louisiana Individual Poetry Slam Open. This go-round is a special competition to select the Baton Rouge representative for the Individual World Poetry Slam in California this October, one of the highest-profile contests on the circuit. The Red Stick’s finest spoken-word performers will bust out their best work to wow the crowd, so if you’ve never experienced a slam before, this is the perfect night to get yourself initiated. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. $5.
