Skulls, girl power and nature at B.R. Gallery

This month’s art opening at Baton Rouge Gallery features Charles Barbier, Hunter Roth and Steve Schmidt. Roth will showcase his familiar skull art, this time centering on Mexican-American cult movie posters and the unreal, such as his colorful Wheel of Death. Barbier focuses on female power, while Schmidt keeps things abstract with nature’s ineffability. The Gallery’s First Wednesdays are the best for sharing your thoughts on art, sipping free wine and checking out the new and improved City Brooks Community Park. The exhibition runs through June 26. Opening reception is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Free.
