Silver Spoon reopens as Beausoleil

Get ready to greet the dawn—or more exactly, the beautiful sun—as new restaurant Beausoleil opens in the location of the former Silver Spoon this Friday at 11 a.m. A joint venture between Silver Spoon owner Michael Boudreaux, former Galatoire’s Bistro general manager Jeff Conaway and former Galatoire’s Bistro chef Nathan Gresham aims to become a hip little neighborhood spot that offers classic, delectable southern-Creole dishes with true Louisiana flair. “Nathan loves to go to the farmers’ markets,” explains Conaway, “and we really want to integrate fresh, local ingredients into the menu. Everything is going to be Louisiana products.” Specials include dishes like stewed leg of rabbit over collard greens, and Mississippi catfish topped with tomato couvillion. Fans of the Silver Spoon needn’t feel left out, though, as some of the old restaurant’s “greatest hits”—like the ever-popular Mediterranean salad—have a permanent place on the Beausoleil menu. The large chalkboard that dominates the entryway will also host “Silver Spoon specials” now and again, Conaway says. The restaurant will be open Monday through Saturday for lunch and dinner, with brunch specials on Sundays that include classics like grits and grillades and innovations like a crawfish croque monsieur. beausoleilrestaurantandbar.com —Rachael Upton
