Silent hilarity at the Baton Rouge Gallery
Saturday, Baton Rouge Gallery’s Movies & Music on the Lawn will do something it has never done before: spotlight a classic silent film made roughly 50 years after the era of silent film ended. The grand finale of this year’s Movies & Music on the Lawn’s wildly popular 2011 series, “Slapstickers,” features Mel Brooks’ hilarious 1976 homage to silent-era slapstick, Silent Movie. The film will be shown on an outdoor inflatable screen while the experimentally-minded troupe, The (New) Zeelanders, perform a never-before-heard score for the film, live. Admission is free for members, $5 for non-members. Show starts at 8 p.m. batonrougegallery.org
