Be one of the lucky 10 people to squeeze into the sushi-making workshop with Yean Chhang, head sushi chef from Kikka, at Whole Foods from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. Learn how to make sushi rice, sauce, cut veggies and seafood, as well as artistic presentation. The class only holds 10 students, and so far no one has registered. And save your main grocery shopping trip for Thursday, Jan. 15, as Whole Foods is donating 5% of its proceeds to the East Baton Rouge Accelerated Academy’s greenhouse. The school is filled with previous high-school dropouts who’ve returned to catch up on an education. Shopping proceeds will help the students rebuild their greenhouse, so they can learn to grow their own fruit and veggies in times of economic downturn. 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
