Red Star

If you’ve wanted to witness to the chicken-fried rockabilly sounds of Zenbilly but haven’t had the chance, this week is your lucky week. They play the Red Star on Thursday with returning Memphis roots octet Giant Bear and Juan Prophet on the bill and on Friday, they play the Varsity as a part of a Katrina benefit concert with Phillip Hawke, The Lazarus Heart, The Black Box and others.

Teddy’s Juke Joint

Slippery Pete’s

The blues community suffered a serious blow when Slippery Pete’s owner was shot recently, but fortunately, his family and friends have pitched in to keep his blues club on Florida Boulevard open. Come show your support and take in the Chicago style guitar work of Chicago Al. No word at press time whether he’ll have his famed hotdog cart out there or not.
