Show Me Yours: Blair Broussard’s beach essentials

Every Fourth of July weekend, Blair Broussard and a few friends vacation in Seaside, Fla., a popular summer destination for many Baton Rougeans. While making early preparations for the trip, the communications manager for Community Coffee gave us her list of seven must-haves for fun in the sand and the sun.

Music for any mood. I mellow out at the beach with Jack Johnson, and for more upbeat songs, I’ve been listening to a band called Fun—especially their song “We Are Young” with Janelle Monae.

Reading material. I usually bring fashion magazines and a novel by [The Hunger Games author] Suzanne Collins or [Harry Potter creator] J.K. Rowling.

Something from Neverland. I always bring my Tinker Bell beach towel.

Chapstick with SPF. I’ve forgotten this before and regretted it later.

An ice chest. This is like your safe at the beach.

Meat tenderizer. For grilling, but mostly in case of jellyfish stings.

Cajun seasoning and coffee. I can’t leave south Louisiana without them.
