Oscar-winner Tom Hanks teams up with director Paul Greengrass for a thriller that’s based on a true story. Captain Phillips tells the story of a 2009 hijacking of the title character’s cargo ship by Somali pirates. Phillips’ ship, the MV Maersk Alabama, was the first American freighter to be hijacked in 200 years. Tom Hanks plays Phillips, and critics are calling it one of his best performances, which is saying something considering Hanks’ previous work is loaded with great films such as Saving Private Ryan, Cast Away, and Philadelphia, just to name a few.
