The heroic god of the Marvel universe returns to save the globe in his most perilous journey yet. Chris Hemsworth returns as Thor for the sequel, The Dark World, which lands in theaters Friday. The film once again mixes the real and fantasy worlds that made the first installment in the franchise a wonder to look at, and fan favorite Loki (played by Tom Hiddleston) is back. Here, Thor and Loki must team up to fight Malekith, the leader of an elder race of dark elves. Alan Taylor, an Emmy-winning director who worked on shows such as Game of Thrones and The Sopranos, directs a script written by Christopher Yost, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Already, the film has made more than $100 million overseas. Rated PG-13. Check out the trailer below.
