See if Oldboy will stand up to the original – Josh Brolin stars in the controversial remake of Chan-wook Park’s cult hit Oldboy.
Josh Brolin stars in the controversial remake of Chan-wook Park’s cult hit Oldboy. Spike Lee takes the director’s chair to tell the story of a man who is kidnapped and locked into solitary confinement for 20 years. When released, the man is obsessed with vengeance, wanting to find his captor. The original was released in 2003 and built quite an audience. When word of the remake began, many took to forums and message boards to air their disdain. However, the remake has quite a cast, including Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley and Samuel L. Jackson, and was shot in New Orleans. If Spike Lee can do the original film justice, his career will get a much-needed boost, after consecutive clunkers Miracle at St. Anna and Red Hook Summer. Rated R. Check out the trailer below.
