Playmakers of Baton Rouge presents a classic Disney tale. The local theater company’s production of Beauty and the Beast Jr. starts Friday at 7 p.m. Additional performances will run Saturday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. The show also runs next Saturday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and next Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $17.50 online. Beauty and the Beast is set in a French town where a lost man, Maurice, seeks shelter in an old castle. But the castle’s master is a horrible beast who takes Maurice captive. Belle, Maurice’s daughter, must try to save his life and tame the beast who was once a handsome price. The play has captured Broadway audiences for more than 13 years. Based on the Disney animated film of the same name, the performance features songs such as “Be Our Guest” and many more.
