Crowe is the title character in a film that started production in May 2012 and has cost an estimated $125 million to make. Aronofsky, who previously made Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler and Black Swan, is no stranger to controversy and dark films. However, this faith-based tale might surprise his fans. Like his earlier, underrated work The Fountain, Noah looks like it will be a visually extravagant treat that will polarize critics and audiences.
