Scuttlebutt: Vic’s Chophouse closes suddenly; Dickie Brennan’s eyes B.R. spot; Chelsea’s owner in court today
-
No work today: Employees of Vic’s Chophouse on Jefferson Highway showed up for work Tuesday morning to find closed doors and a “for lease” sign in front. No one called the workers to let them know they wouldn’t be working anymore. As reported in Daily Report, Brent Garrett, an agent with Beau Box Commercial Real Estate, who has the listing for the 2,550-square-foot building, says the restaurant closed this week. Chef Victor Pickich opened Vic’s in April 2007. Pickich, who has a cooking show on Cox Cable, previously had operated Tigre’s Fine Dining. Worst-kept secret? New Orleans restaurateur Dickie Brennan was going to open a restaurant in developer Mike Wampold’s Marriott on Bluebonnet near the Jimmy Swaggart Ministries campus. But now insiders are saying his restaurant will end up in Acadian Village, the planned development at the old Wal-Mart site on Perkins at Acadian. However, the restaurant will neither confirm nor deny its plans. His day in court: Chelsea’s Café owner David Remmetter will have his day in court today at 2 p.m. In late January, the state office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control raided the Perkins Road Overpass restaurant and live music venue, citing him for food-liquor ratio. Read the back story here. 225 will keep you posted on the outcome.
