Scuttlebutt: New restaurant opens on Essen … Burrito-eating contest offers $1,000 prizes

Pita power: Extreme Pita, a late-night, health-conscious chain, is now open on Essen Lane, and the lines are out the door. The new eatery, in the same shopping center as Ichiban, serves bistro-style sandwich wraps, gyros, falafel, pita bread, salads and soups. Neato burrito: Los Gallos is hosting a burrito-eating tournament Saturday at noon. Contestants will have one hour to finish the restaurant’s new signature burrito (pictured).
