Scuttlebutt: LCI grad cooks for the stars … Cake balls grab national attention
Louisiana Culinary Institute alum Colt Patin has been making quite a name for himself in the television world. His cookery was featured this week on a “Cajun country” episode of the hit Travel Channel show No Reservations, featuring Anthony Bourdain. In the episode, Patin helped prepare a proper Cajun crawfish boil for the celeb chef and author. Two weeks after that shoot concluded, he was asked to help prepare a second crawfish boil for another popular Travel Channel show, Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern. This time, Patin also prepared a whole stuffed alligator to raise the “bizarre” bar. These excursions weren’t Patin’s first brush with fame: As executive chef at Crawfish Town USA in Breaux Bridge, he authored a cookbook, was named one of five top “Chefs to Watch” in Louisiana by Louisiana Cookin’ magazine, and cooked for the season finale of popular Louisiana-centric show Swamp People. Keep your eyes peeled for more of Patin—he’s clearly going places! And Patin isn’t the only Baton Rougean grabbing national attention this week. Brew Ha-Ha owner and proprietress Gabby Loubiere snagged a top spot on national bridal website Brides.com. Her delicate ombre cake ball wedding cake wowed editors at the wedding spot, and made her pastry creation one of the most-viewed posts of the week. Layering gorgeous pink, coral and cream cake balls, it’s a delicious-looking jewel of a confection and is sure to grab her more deserved attention. Click here to see the article.
