Sclafanis get together for a feast
Ruffino’s executive chef Peter Sclafani hosted a good-natured cook-off with his father, Peter Jr., and brother, Gino, for a sold-out event “Sclafani Smackdown” this Monday and Tuesday night at Ruffino’s. The inaugural event featured the family tackling a menu that hit on the ’50s, ’80s and the present. Though the Sclafanis were mum on who took home the crown, the menu was out of sight with each family member contributing two dishes apiece. Peter Jr. prepped lobster thermidor and veal scallopine, while his son Peter prepared mozzarella, made the minute you order, and 72-hour braised beef short ribs. Gino contributed with a turtle soup and pasta with eggplant Caruso.
