Saturday’s Slim Harpo Awards inducts new legends

It’s not too late to get your tickets for the Slim Harpo Awards, which honors New Orleans blues pianist Dr. John, late clarinetist and Southern University music educator Alvin Batiste and Jersey native turned Louisiana bluesman John Lisi. Sponsored by the Baton Rouge Blues Foundation, the ceremony begins at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Cypress Ballroom inside the Crown Plaza Hotel on Constitution Avenue.
