Runway to Realway: Raspberry Crush

Raspberry Crush

After sorting through countless photos from NYFW’s Fall 2014 shows, the Carolina Herrera show has my heart. Though there was only one raspberry piece in the collection, the color caught my eye as a theme throughout shows. It is a great transition color. Part fall, part spring. That between stage of no longer winter and not quite summer can be tricky on the wardrobe. We Louisianans know that the need for a jacket in the morning will prove unnecessary by lunch, but this shorts-one-day-freezing-rain-the-next is the absolute worst. Luckily, bringing a little raspberry into your week helps keep the long winter blues away.

A tunic is a complicated piece to wear, I admit. My petite gals out there know that “tunic” actually means “dress,” while my tall gals see “tunic” and read “shirt.” Wear it as a dress, or wear it as a blouse. You can layer black tights underneath for a cold blast and don sandals for warm days. Neutral ankle boots are a happy medium and a shoe collection addition you will not regret! Carry a fun jade cross-body bag for hands-free days of errands and unpredictable rain showers. You don’t need to worry about holding your purse when your umbrella is about to take flight! Simple jewelry keeps the look casual for day, but a dash of an arm party takes this dress into fun night out territory.
