Runway to Realway: Menswear Weekend

If you were to look in my closet, you would find half a dozen versions of loafers or smoking slippers. They go with everything in my closet, especially the more girly pieces. Don’t have a pair? Get one… now.

I love this look from Organic by John Patrick from his spring 2014 collection! It is basic, which means that you probably already have similar items in your wardrobe. The easy and relaxed feel of the look is what I want my life to emulate every day. An oxford to be “buttoned up” and shorts for hot days (switch to boyfriend jeans or skinny cargoes for fall). A cardigan properly tucked says, “I like manners, but only a half-tuck’s worth,” while metal-tipped loafers are comfortable and more interesting than ballet flats. Brogues can be substituted, but loafers are less dancing Walter Mattau and more Ronald Reagan sitting on the porch of the White House. Add a canvas camo watch for questionable flair.
