Runway to Realway: Louis Vuitton SS13 – To say that the Louis Vuitton SS 2013 show has inspired me is a grave understatement.
Dress: Tinley Road
Flats: Aldo
Satchel: Danielle Nicole
Barrettes: ban.do
To say that the Louis Vuitton SS 2013 show has inspired me is a grave understatement. I watch the video over and over as well as scroll through the stills over… and over. The escalators! The double feature twin models! The graphics! The hair! A total 1960s streamline vibe is what really got me, though. I was born out of my time. My hair was made for a beehive and the instant I slip on a wiggle dress I have a whole Hairspray moment complete with background music. **It should be noted that my song of choice for this ever happening in real life is “Come See About Me” by The Supremes.**
My favorite set of looks from the LV show is the pair pictured above. The color combo of black and white is easy to copy because you probably already have something black or white hanging in your closet already. The checkerboard print presents more of a challenge, but the scale of squares on the Tinley Road dress is large enough to make a statement, yet small enough to make it into your regular outfit rotation.

Now, realize that it may be difficult to see how such a bold dress would be a basic staple in your wardrobe. However, imagine it with blue tights and boots in the winter with a black peacoat. Or this fall with a grey pullover sweater giving the illusion of a top and skirt. Then next summer with sandals or flats. 3 outfits, right there, on the spot. Have you clicked “Add to Cart” yet?
With each of the additional outfit ideas as well as the one above, keep with a 1960s hair vibe with these small barrettes. If you are having withdrawals from butterfly or banana clips, these will feed your craving and add a cute, modern touch to your look. Pointy-toe flats are the biggest shoe trend this year and this black and white pair will keep you comfortable year-round. They are a neutral and can go with anything. This purse is the only arm accessory you’ll need with this outfit! The hardware brings more interest to your outfit and saves you from wearing bracelets for a day. If you are really inspired by the LV look, hold your bag in your hand. It is so much more ladylike and likely not something you do often.
