‘Run’ for the Orphan

Get a great workout for a great cause at the One for the Orphan event this weekend around the LSU Lakes. Friday kicks off a 24-hour “ride aside” event, where you can bike alongside one of the One for the Orphan Team members who will attempt to bike continuously for 24 hours. Cyclists can bike alongside for any length of time on Friday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. If biking isn’t your speed, Saturday you can enjoy a swift 5K race around the picturesque lakes, a family fun walk, and a unique “African Experience” portion of the day that will teach you and your kids about the hardships faced by orphaned Africans every day. Your $25 registration will go towards the efforts of international nonprofit Children’s Cup, which finances the care of children in Africa orphaned by AIDS, war and poverty.
