Ruffino’s hosts Mardi Gras wine dinners
Ruffino’s Restaurant in Baton Rouge and Ruffino’s on the River in Lafayette will host masquerade wine dinners to kickoff the Mardi Gras season. The Baton Rouge restaurant will host its dinner Sunday. The Lafayette location’s dinner will be next Tuesday, Feb. 25. Both will feature a special menu created by Chef Peter Sclafani as well as a Mardi Gras-themed costume contest.
The menu is set to include lobster dumplings, beet salad, Chappapeela Farms’ duck breast and Creekstone Farms’ short ribs. An indulgent king cake will be served for dessert.
Prior to the Baton Rouge dinner, co-owner Ruffin Rodrigue and Sclafani will be in Washington, D.C., where Sclafani will showcase his culinary skills at the Mystick Krewe of Louisianans Mardi Gras Ball Saturday. This is the third consecutive appearance for Sclafani at the event.
