Rubbernecking
Platinum-selling Texas-based band the Toadies hit The Varsity stage next Wednesday, Sept. 30. Diehard fans of their relentless bass-driven rock are delirious to see the long-disbanded group reunited for a tour in support of their new album, No Deliverance. Though most famous for their ’94 hit single, “Possum Kingdom,” their new album is just as hard-rocking as before. Lead singer Todd Lewis’s reedy but often raw voice weaves faintly unhinged lyrics whose subjects cover everything from unrequited love to arson. Supporting them are rock groups The Myrtles and Elsah. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. 9 p.m.
