Roundup: Southern Food and Beverage Museum moving house … Blue Bell Creameries building Bossier City distribution center
Centrally located: The Southern Food & Beverage Museum (SoFAB), a New Orleans living history organization dedicated to the celebration of food, drink and Southern culture, has outgrown its current home in the Riverwalk and is moving to a 30,000-square-foot space in Central City. The building, located at 1504 Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard, formerly Dryades Street, was home in the 1800s to the Dryades Street Market, the center of commerce, where neighbors would buy meat, dairy, and more. Ring that bell: Blue Bell Creameries is converting a company transit station in Bossier City into a distribution center. There will be 11 to 12 shipping routes from the center reaching as far south as Alexandria. Blue Bell operates four other distribution centers in Louisiana: in Ruston, Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Lafayette. There are 52 distribution centers nationwide.
