Roundup: Serop’s Express plans Perkins Road location … VooDoo BBQ expanding into Carolinas

Express yourself: A Serop’s Express is set to open this fall at the intersection of Perkins Road and Bluebonnet Boulevard. The restaurant will go into a space that had been occupied by Pizza Hut. Pizza Hut largely pulled out of Baton Rouge and New Orleans early this year as a result of a dispute between the chain and the local franchise owner. Vasken Kaltakdjian, who owns Serop’s, says the new location will have a drive-up window. Grill a-go-go: VooDoo BBQ & Grill has signed a deal with a franchisee to open its first restaurants outside of Louisiana. Kerr Management has an agreement to open eight restaurants in South Carolina. The first location will open in Greenville this winter; other locations are planned for Anderson, Charleston, Columbia, Spartanburg and Rock Hill, along with Asheville, N.C. Baton Rouge-based VooDoo has 12 locations in south Louisiana. The company, which started in New Orleans in 2002, is set to open restaurants in Gonzales, Lafayette and on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in the coming months.
