Roundup: ‘Parade’ likes LSU tailgate grub … Plans for a new Associated Grocers supermarket announced
Finger-licking: For its 2011 Tailgating Awards, Parade magazine names LSU No. 1 in the category of Most Finger-Licking Food. “Forget burgers and brats—outside Tiger Stadium, you’re more likely to find French Quarter favorites like spicy alligator, gumbo and shrimp étouffée,” says the magazine. “No wonder Sports Illustrated once gave the school an A rating for tailgate eats.” Alexander associated: St. Amant-based Murray’s Inc. has purchased approximately 3.5 acres of vacant land at Highland Road and Perkins Road East, across from Blue Bayou Waterpark, on which it will build an Associated Grocers neighborhood supermarket, says company President Lathan Alexander. “We are hoping to open in the fall of 2012,” Alexander says. “It will be named Alexander’s Highland Market.”
