Roundup: Oyster harvesting reopens in Calcasieu Lake … Cane’s set to enter Phoenix market

Oysters open: State officials have OK’d opening oyster harvesting in nearly 12,000 acres of Calcasieu Lake previously closed because of fecal bacteria. The Department of Health and Hospitals says recent tests found fecal coliform levels are within acceptable limits. The bacteria themselves aren’t generally harmful but are used as an indicator of contamination. The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says oystering reopened before sunrise on Friday in the southern half of the lake and part of Area 29, where oyster season usually runs from Oct. 15 through April 30. Most of Louisiana’s 30 oyster harvest areas are open. Cane’s spreading out: Raising Cane’s will open its first two locations in Arizona later this year, according to The Phoenix Business Journal. The Micatrotto Restaurant Group, the chain’s Southwestern franchisee, plans to open one location in Phoenix in August and one in September. Cane’s already has five locations in Las Vegas. The Baton Rouge–based chicken tenders chain has more than 90 locations across the U.S.
