Roundup: Locally made beer now available at Crescent City bars … Dunkin’ Donuts eyes B.R. locations … Cold good for La. peaches
Cheers to the Crescent City: Tin Roof Brewing Company, a local microbrewery, is now selling its beers in New Orleans bars and restaurants. This is the first expansion outside of the Capital Region for Tin Roof, which was launched in November. According to The Times-Picayune, Tin Roof will start bottling beer in a few months. Dunkin’ comin’: Dunkin’ Donuts plans to build 10 to 12 locations in metro Baton Rouge over the next four to five years as part of the doughnut chain’s plans to expand nationally. Dunkin’ Donuts announced today it was looking for franchisees to enter into the Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Shreveport markets. Grant Benson, vice president of franchising and market planning for the Massachusetts doughnut chain, says Dunkin’ is looking for two or three franchise groups to handle the Capital Region market. “Baton Rouge is a very attractive franchise for us,” Benson says. Crops okay from the cold: Louisiana farmers say this week’s cold weather is good for peaches in north Louisiana and that, farther south, strawberries covered against the cold should be fine. Joe Mitcham of Ruston says his peach trees need 850 to 1,000 hours of temperatures below 45 degrees to produce a good crop.
