Roundup: Latte e Miele plans second location … Ducote to appear on ‘Masterchef’ Monday

Love latte: Latte e Miele Gelato plans to open a second Baton Rouge location in early September on Jefferson Highway. The new location will be across from Jefferson Place, in the Settlement shopping center, says co-owner Luca Di Martino. The new shop will be open all day and offer plated desserts, Italian coffee service and tea, along with the smooth, creamy gelato. Plans are to have a retail section, selling homemade candies, along with Italian chocolates, coffee and cookies. Di Martino is also trying to get a permit to sell dessert wines and champagnes at the shop. Local goes national: Local food blogger Jay Ducote will appear on the season premiere of cooking competition reality show Masterchef Monday, June 6, on FOX. Ducote was one of 100 contestants chosen as the country’s “Top Amateur Chefs” and went on to an audition in Los Angeles.
