Roundup: B.R. Hooters waitress up for ‘Dream Girl’ title … Burger King testing delivery service

Girl next door: Brittany Farmer, a waitress at the Hooters restaurant on College Drive, is one of 16 “Hooters Girls” across the United States selected by the chain restaurant to compete for the 2012 Hooters Dream Girl title. The four-week competition has been turned into a TV show, which premiered on the SPEED network over the weekend. The winner of the series of competitive photo shoots, interviews and beach challenges (the competition began in Aruba) will be featured on the cover of Hooters Magazine and will take home the title. The winner will be decided by online voting. You can see photos of Farmer, as well as the other contestants, and vote online here. The list of 16 candidates will be narrowed during three elimination rounds. You can also see a video of Farmer here. Will it be a whopper or a flopper?: USA Today reports No. 2 burger chain Burger King has quietly begun testing home delivery of its burgers, fries and other menu items since last fall at four of its restaurants in Greater Washington, D.C., with an eye to expanding the service beyond that area. Should home delivery catch on for the burger giants—as it has for the pizza kingpins—it could be an industry changer. But it runs counter to long-held consumer perception that fast-food burgers and fries travel poorly—and don’t warm up well in the microwave.
