Round-up: New Cane’s locations … Outback commits to Louisiana shrimp … Brew-Bachers buy restaurant
Cane’s in Beantown: Raising Cane’s continues to grow, adding its first locations in Prairieville and in Boston. The Prairieville location is now open on Airline Highway in the Ultima Shopping Center. The Boston location, which opens next week, will be in a building owned by Boston University. It’s the first New England location for the chain, which has traditionally moved into college cities and towns. The Boston location will be the 87th restaurant for Cane’s. Only La. shrimp on the barbie: Outback Steakhouses across the state have entered into a “commitment” to continue buying Louisiana shrimp for their restaurants. Gov. Bobby Jindal says the decision will help the state promote the purchase and consumption of Louisiana shrimp and also send a signal to companies all across the nation. Outback’s decision comes as a major boost to the domestic industry. Burgers on the half shell: The owners of local sandwich chain Brew-Bachers have purchased the Prairieville location of On The Half Shell, a seafood restaurant. Details of the sale were not released, but Davis Dicharry, one of the owners of Brew-Bachers, says few changes are planned. On the Half Shell will keep its name and its 30 employees.
